Safety and legal information

Plain-language summary
CoasterLab is a family-friendly game where you build roller coasters and ride them. It has fast simulated motion, bright flashing effects, virtual rewards, optional accounts and an optional $1 a month membership. The sections below explain important safety, privacy, payment and usage information. This summary does not replace the full sections, our terms, privacy notice or refund policy.
Photosensitivity and seizure warning
CoasterLab contains flashing lights, fire, lightning, neon and rainbow effects, portals, boost effects, timed flashing eggs, night lighting and fast-changing scenes.
A very small number of people may have seizures or other symptoms when they are exposed to flashing lights, strong patterns or certain visual effects, even with no previous history of this. Stop playing straight away and get medical guidance if anyone playing or watching experiences dizziness, changed or blurred vision, eye or muscle twitching, loss of awareness, confusion or disorientation, involuntary movement, or a seizure.
Playing in a well-lit room, sitting further from the screen and taking regular breaks can reduce the chance of discomfort. If you or your child has a history of seizures, please speak with a doctor before playing.
Motion sickness and dizziness
CoasterLab deliberately simulates drops, inversions, acceleration, camera motion, speed blur and boost effects. Riding in first person is the most intense way to play, because the whole view moves with the train.
Some people feel motion sickness, dizziness, nausea, headache, disorientation, sweating or eye strain during or after this kind of simulated movement. If that happens, stop playing, rest somewhere with a stable view, and do not return until the feeling has passed. Get medical guidance if symptoms are severe or do not go away. Switching to the outside camera view instead of first person, playing shorter sessions, and turning on your device's reduced-motion setting all make the experience gentler.
Screen use and breaks
Take a break roughly every 30 to 60 minutes, sit a comfortable distance from the screen, and play in a well-lit space. Stop if you notice eye strain, tired eyes, headache or dizziness. Long 3D play can also make a phone or tablet warm and use battery faster than usual, which is normal for 3D games; if a device becomes uncomfortably hot, stop and let it cool down.
Children and grown-up supervision
CoasterLab is made for families. Parents and guardians should supervise children's use where appropriate and review the account, time-limit, payment and privacy settings. CoasterLab's tools support families — they are not a substitute for parental supervision.
This is a game, not an engineering plan
CoasterLab is entertainment. Track layouts, speeds, forces, supports, restraints, station behaviour and ride simulation are stylised and fictional. Some of it is designed to look believable, but none of it is an engineering plan, a safety certification, real-world construction guidance, or an amusement-ride design specification.
Never attempt to build, modify or operate a real ride, structure or vehicle based on anything in CoasterLab. Effects such as fire, tornadoes, lightning, ice, portals and extreme boosts are invented game experiences and do not represent safe or realistic ride design.
Accessibility and reduced motion
We want CoasterLab to be playable by as many families as possible, and we are still improving this. We do not claim full conformance with any accessibility standard. If you hit an accessibility barrier, email support@coasterlab.kids and tell us what got in the way.
CoasterLab respects your device's "reduce motion" setting: when it is on, celebration animations, confetti and the speed-rush effect are calmed down. Theme music and game sounds have separate on/off and volume dials that are always reachable, and the theme music now starts quieter by default. Riding with the outside camera instead of first person is the gentlest way to ride.
Accounts and security
An account is created and owned by an adult. Keep the email address and password private, and tell us if you think someone else has access. You are responsible for use of the account by people you allow to use it. We may suspend or close an account for serious or repeated misuse, fraud, or security risk, as described in the terms. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.
We use encryption in transit and at rest, row-level database access controls and least-privilege administrator access. No online service can promise perfect security, so we do not claim CoasterLab is unhackable or "100% secure".
Parental controls and Park Hours
Parents can set a daily time limit per child profile, grant extra time, and protect profile switching with a Parent PIN. These are helpful tools, not a guarantee. A determined user may be able to work around them — for example by playing as a guest, by clearing browser storage, by using a different device or browser, or by learning the PIN. Please treat them as an aid to a family conversation rather than perfect technical enforcement.
Privacy and analytics
The full detail is in our privacy notice. In short: an account holds a grown-up's email address; a child profile is a nickname and a colour. We do not ask children for a real name, birth date, photo, address, phone contacts, school or precise location.
To run and improve the game we record gameplay events (such as rides taken, features used and pieces placed), error and crash reports, performance information, and general device and browser category. These records are linked to an account, profile or a guest identifier stored in your browser, so they are not fully anonymous — we describe them as pseudonymous. We do not build advertising profiles of children and we do not sell or rent personal data.
On grown-up pages only — pricing, sign-up and checkout — we use Google's Ads tag to count page views and purchases so we can measure our own advertising. It never loads during play, and it is switched off entirely for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. We do not run behavioural advertising or remarketing inside the game, and there is no third-party advertising SDK in the game itself. Before any wider paid-acquisition or tracking technology is added, a child-directed advertising and privacy review needs to happen first.
Cookies and browser storage
Essential storage keeps the product working: staying signed in, your in-progress coaster, the selected profile, your sound and music choices, daily play-time counting for guests, and Coaster Treasure and unlocks for guest play.
Measurement storage is limited to the Google Ads tag described above, on grown-up pages only. Clearing your browser storage removes all of this — including guest progress that has not been saved to an account, and guest play-time counting.
Membership and payments
The CoasterLab Membership is $1.00 USD per month, billed monthly in advance, and renews automatically until you cancel. Applicable taxes are calculated and shown at checkout. Membership lifts the free daily play limit; everything else in the game is included in the free tier. There are no in-game purchases and no loot boxes.
You can cancel at any time. Cancellation stops the next renewal, access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for, and the account then returns to free play. Our refund policy gives a 14-day money-back guarantee. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com, which is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle handles payment, billing, tax, invoicing, customer service inquiries and returns; card details go to Paddle and are never stored by us.
Coaster Treasure and virtual items
Coaster Treasure is virtual game progress. It is not real money, not a currency, not cryptocurrency, and cannot be exchanged, sold or redeemed for cash or anything of value outside the game. Treasure cannot be bought with real money — it is earned by playing.
Outfits, track and cart unlocks and other cosmetic items are virtual game features with no real-world monetary value. They exist inside CoasterLab and depend on your account and on the game continuing to be available. Game rules and balance may change as we improve the game, and virtual items can be adjusted or removed for reasons such as a bug or a fix, though we try hard not to take away anything a player earned.
Names, saved coasters and sharing
Players can choose a character name and name the coasters they build. Names must not be abusive, hateful, sexual, harassing, or infringing, and must not contain personal contact information; names are filtered automatically and we may remove or reset anything that breaks these rules. There is no chat, no public profile, no friend list and no search for other players, and we intend to keep it that way.
If you create a share link for a coaster, anyone with that link can open and ride that coaster. A share link shows the coaster layout and its name — not the account email, child profile details, play history or any other account data. Delete the shared coaster if you no longer want the link to work. To report a shared coaster or a name that shouldn't be there, email support@coasterlab.kids.
Learning-style activities
Some booths and mini-games have a learning flavour. They are entertainment and enrichment. We do not claim CoasterLab improves academic results, meets any educational standard, or replaces school instruction.
Third-party services and links
We rely on a small number of providers to run CoasterLab: Paddle as our merchant of record for payments, our cloud provider for hosting, database and authentication, an email delivery provider for account and support email, and Google's Ads tag on grown-up pages only. They process information as described in our privacy notice.
Some pages link to outside websites, such as Paddle's terms. Those sites have their own terms and privacy practices and we are not responsible for them. Pages aimed at children do not link out to unrelated external content.
Availability, saves and data loss
We work hard to keep CoasterLab available and to protect your saved coasters, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. Maintenance, network problems, browser incompatibility, temporary downtime and feature changes can happen, and some features need an internet connection: signing in, saving to your account, sharing links, payments and email all require one, and guest play still needs the site to load.
No storage system is perfect. Please don't treat game data as permanent, irreplaceable storage. That is not an excuse for weak saving — we take save reliability seriously and will keep improving it.
Intellectual property
The CoasterLab game, artwork, sounds, software and branding belong to Cosmo Star Labs LLC. You keep ownership of the coasters you design, and you give us a limited licence to store and display them so the service works, including showing a design to anyone you send a share link to.
CoasterLab is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any amusement park, ride manufacturer, film, character or attraction. We use generic industry terms — inverted coaster, corkscrew, Immelmann, airtime — to describe ride elements; we do not copy distinctive branded ride designs or names. If you believe something in CoasterLab infringes your rights, email support@coasterlab.kids with the details and we will look into it and remove infringing content where appropriate.
Warranty, liability and governing terms
The warranty disclaimer, limitation of liability, indemnity, governing law and other contract terms live in our terms and conditions, which is the agreement between you and Cosmo Star Labs LLC. This safety page is information and guidance, not a legal conclusion, and it does not replace or override the terms. Only an adult may accept the terms and open or pay for an account.
Nothing here is medical advice. The seizure, motion-sickness and screen-use guidance above is general information; talk to a qualified professional about anything health related. If someone has a serious medical event, stop playing and get appropriate medical help or contact your local emergency services — CoasterLab support is not a medical or emergency service.
If we materially change this page we will update the effective date and version above, and tell account holders by email where the change is significant.
Contact and reporting
To report a safety concern, a privacy question, an account or billing problem, inappropriate content, or a security issue, email support@coasterlab.kids. Cosmo Star Labs LLC, United States. Please include enough detail for us to find the account or content in question, and never send passwords.
